Industrial Security Annex Agreement

The Industrial Security Annex (ISA), signed between India and the US at the second 2+2 dialogue in Washington, will open the door for the US. The defense companies will work with the Indian private sector on several multi-billion dollar deals, particularly the deal for 114 fighter jets. The two sides also took stock of the steps taken to operationalize the basic agreement, the Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA). Since the Trump administration introduced the Indo-Pacific strategy, Washington has been trying to convince New Delhi to join its military and security establishment in the region, and the 2+2 ministerial dialogue has become an important mechanism to advance this strategy. BECA is supposed to be one of the few fundamental agreements the US is entering into with its close partners.
